About the Role
Microsoft is working to transform the way software is built and used through Generative AI, and the Core AI team is at the center of this effort. The team develops the foundational platforms, services, programming models, and developer tools that help businesses and developers build the next generation of intelligent applications.
Within Core AI, the Agentic Core Services Team focuses on creating the cloud-native and distributed infrastructure needed to build, run, and manage AI-powered agent applications at scale.
As a Software Engineer on this team, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting challenges in modern software development. You will help shape the way developers build and interact with AI platforms while contributing to the design of reliable, scalable runtimes for agent-based applications.
You will also work closely with experts in Generative AI and explore emerging technologies across text, audio, video, and other multimodal capabilities. Your work will help bring these advances into practical, enterprise-ready applications.
The role also provides an opportunity to develop expertise in scalable AI systems while helping establish strong standards around security, responsible AI governance, reliability, and operations.
Microsoft Engineer Jobs in India: What You’ll Do
In this role, you will contribute to the development and improvement of Microsoft’s AI platform and services. Your responsibilities will include:
- Write and implement high-quality code for products, services, and new features while making effective use of existing code and components.
- Contribute technical feedback to architecture proposals and work with experienced technical leaders to make sound engineering decisions.
- Explore different design approaches, test potential solutions, and evaluate the advantages and limitations of each option.
- Work with architects and other engineers to design, build, and improve product features.
- Help create technical design documents that support user stories and product requirements.
- Analyze product and engineering challenges and share your findings to help guide future product decisions.
- Build foundational platform capabilities and reusable components that help engineering teams move faster and deliver innovative products.
- Work with customers and product teams to understand their needs, gather feedback, and help shape the future direction of the platform.
- Help operate large-scale distributed systems with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and service-level agreements.
- Participate in root cause analyses following significant incidents or outages and identify long-term improvements that can prevent similar issues.
- Contribute to maintaining high standards for the reliability, security, and operational performance of enterprise AI services.
Microsoft Engineer Jobs in India: Required Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and at least 3 years of professional engineering experience involving programming in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Equivalent practical experience may also be considered.
- At least 3 years of experience designing, building, and operating production-grade software or services at scale.
- A demonstrated ability to deliver meaningful, high-impact technical solutions.
Microsoft Engineer Jobs in India: Preferred Qualifications
Microsoft is particularly interested in candidates who have experience solving complex engineering problems in areas such as:
